Since everything is awful and it’s nearly Christmas, who’d like some pictures of ship’s cats? Don’t worry dog lovers, a canine thread’s coming soon! Let’s start with Tiddles, sitting in his favourite spot on the carrier HMS Victorious in 1943 (he liked playing with the bell rope)

My god. It's full of stars.

This sparkling #JWST stellar scene is Westerlund 2, a young star cluster only a few million years old and containing some of the hottest, most massive stars known.

Westerlund 2 is situated within the Gum 29 stellar nursery, and is around 20,000 lightyears from home.

Reminded of when, during lockdown, the Princess Bride became an actual folk tale, to be retold, lovingly.

Warning: that ending might choke you up a bit.

I do not have the skill set to do this but one thing my parents did ingrain in me is that the purpose of these groups’ door knocking is not actually to convert- the leaders know that doesn’t work. It’s to teach members that they will be ridiculed, ostracised, despised outside the cult

I woke the lighter sleeper of a pair of swans this morning, by blowing my nose. Looked livid. Living on the river Trent surrounded by turds and lost fishing tackle, I'm also upsetting the wildlife.

In summer we eat hotdogs so in winter, we can make preserved onions, for display!
The second hand appliance store pickled onion Christmas window is back.

I remember when there was a discussion on Twitter about Shein's manufacturing practices and some apologists invented all sorts of fantastical machinery and technology to avoid facing the more horrifying truth. Reminds me of this comedian's joke.

I reckon I’m smart enough to get the numbers and letters job on Countdown, putting them in size order ready for Rachel.

I've given myself the ick now, mostly from the broken last line and now I'm too awake to go back to sleep. *Tattooist misheard you Kit, I think.* maybe.
Marked my time with navy intelligence,
(insert a rhyme less tenuous)
Inked with a quill an anchor upon my arm,
Miss Moneypenny I feigned to charm
Come live with me and be my love,
And we will all the pleasures prove.
She laughed, her face a little pink,
The artist misheard I think.

Also a good time to check ALL of your Bluesky moderation settings

A couple of them were put into "Hide" without my action
If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

It’s good to keep at least one clock that needs changing manually. Otherwise “they” could be changing the time all the time and we’d never know.
