This is the greatest trauma processing I've ever heard.
Will Arnett was on Conan and told a story about how Conan dealt with the death of his parents by accusing Jason Bateman of killing them. It’s so funny.

I’m not in denial, I’m in open rebellion. Yup. Take your AI and shove it.
“I am so bored by AI. One of the things I love about the theatre is AI can’t do it.”

Ethan Hawke is a dude 👌🏻

I read nearly everything I do through Cloud Library. I occasionally use Hoopla for movies and books that the other doesn’t have. I don’t have to leave my house or pay any money. Libraries are awesome.
Reminder that not only do library systems have physical media (& many also lend tools, electronics etc), your library card may give you access to streamers Kanopy and Hoopla. We just watched Francis Ford Coppola’s adaptation of The Rainmaker via a hoopla the other night. Pretty good!
“As prices for streaming subscriptions continue to soar and finding movies to watch, new and old, is becoming harder as the number of streaming services continues to grow, people are turning to the unexpected last stronghold of physical media: the public library.”

Seven.

Never, ever, ever again. 🤮
Never mind movies you’ve watched multiple times, name a movie you’ve watched once and would never watch again.

This. Stay with us.

Oh, and? It’s misogyny. It’s always been misogyny.

Managed a walk over lunch at work yesterday. Found a nice trail I hadn’t known about. And I couldn’t resist this selfie.

Ho, ho, the mistletoe, high up in the tree…

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

There are scores. But this popped into my head first due to the season. And heck, I’ve seen it scores of times. So.

Yeah. And they’re young. They don’t know a lot of things. And sometimes they make boneheaded mistakes. But the December one? It’s a joke, dude.

Why is December transgender?

“Because without HRT it's just Cismas.”

Joke’s on this loser for not being in the hip crowd.
He teaches JUNIORS in high school btw

When I worked nights for five years, we called them “daywalkers” and yeah…it’s HARD to manage this.
I don’t think night people get enough credit for adapting to a world run by day people

Just remembering how @lpff.bsky.social and I didn’t get COVID when we went to Celebration London, but @margueritekenner.bsky.social and @alasdairstuart.bsky.social finally got it while NOT at the con, so we couldn’t visit. Life has a sense of humor, I guess?

Lost Whamageddon after work today. But there was a category on Jeopardy called “let’s give Star Wars a hand” and I swept it.

You win some. You lose some. 🤣

I’ll be there with bells on. Or, like, an orange flight suit or something.

There were four kids in my house. One washed, one rinsed, one dried, one had the night off.

Perfectly fine to let them dry on their own, of course. But with six people, that doesn’t fit in a rack well. And yeah. Don’t think I ever had a dishwasher until I was an adult.
As a small child in ye olden days before dishwashers, it was my job to RINSE AND DRY the dishes after they had been washed (by my dad). And he wasn't using a bowl of stanky-ass filth-water to wash with.

Some people just be gross.

@finnanhaddie.bsky.social Ha! Just read your bio. I’m all of those things too! Well, probably queer over gay here, as that’s complicated, but still. I just don’t live in Boston. Used to live in Western Mass, though. Close enough? 🤣

I loved physics. And I did rather well in it. But I drew a picture every time.

As for organic chemistry, where I did well enough I worked in the lab afterward, I remember doing the equations over and over and over until I got them right. To me, it was a puzzle I had to keep trying to solve.
THIS. Get the reps in. It ALWAYS helps. It might take you 2 tries to get a concept in, it might take you 20. But you'll always understand it better if you go over it again!
I think too often physics students unconsciously have the idea that some people have brains that are "natural" for physics and some don't and who knows maybe that's true to some extent but regardless of natural tendency at some point everyone has to practice practice practice
