It was really great chatting with Jun about all things indie games, and at Indie Jam no less.
Thanks @wamirul.bsky.social for the fun chat during the Indie Jam weekend sometime back. We got to chat about the SE Asia indies scene and @xbox.com's deep support to date. And we're going to see the manifestation of some of that this SGF weekend 💚 can't wait!

Found out Dark Souls was narrated by Malaysia's Pik-Sen Lim 林碧笙 (British citizen).

In the 60's she was torch bearing fire maiden for the Rye Fawks bonfire festival.

"Scorcher the dragon, and the Ryebellion drummers. The parade winds through the town of Rye..."

This may genuinely be one of the most devastating things I've seen about a tech CEO in the mainstream media. Amazing.

Both @antioedipus3000.bsky.social and I planned our joint birthday party around Indie Jam Weekend so that we could celebrate with some of our closest friends in the Southeast Asian games industry 🥳

Huge props to the amazing @soyacomu.bsky.social for commemorating the celebration ✨
I really need to remember to post my stuff here lmao

@cococucumber.bsky.social has recently (re)released Ravenlok on Steam. In case if you missed it, Ravenlok is a game directed by Malaysian director @caravandetta.bsky.social .

To me Ravenlok is like a love letter to Alice: Madness Returns with more wholesome tone to the game

1) Tightly scoped projects, with identified and specific needs
2) Everyone works part-time
3) Paying people above this rate, sometimes significantly
4) …I don’t budget in myself yet. I live off of backend, which with our stable of releases has worked out so far (but I want to eventually address)
Someone explain this math to me. For a 4-person team is this $4K/mo or about $25/hr, which is like a third of the US game industry median. Is everyone banking on residuals? Or is it just made by 2 people? Or are people overseas? I'm missing some piece.

This really sums it up. For those who haven't watched it, the dialogue on the right isn't paraphrased, those are the lines.

Musk believes that people are being paid to protest Tesla because he's paying people to vote for a Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate. Every accusation is a confession.
I love fanatical, for some reason they always have great fighting game discounts

For Malaysian game devs:

IGDA MY is hosting a free mentor cafe where you can sit down with an experienced Malaysian game dev for 30 mins and learn from them.

After that, you can always find your own way to keep in touch with the mentors.

Event is happening in conjunction with Indie Jam 2025.

Ah it was a cartoon — and a surprisingly quick google. A case of life imitating art I suppose
