now. i'm not saying you should never make fun of the french language. i love a joke at the expense of a parisian. but i don't think you have a leg to stand on if you speak exactly one language and that language is english

i've always thought this is going to be a limiting factor on "just write what you want and it will come out!" genAI - people do not know what they want. people often want to be shown something they could not have thought of themselves. even if they claim otherwise. especially wrt music
not beating the “AI art is lazy” allegations

in roller coaster tycoon 1, the "mega park" you unlock after beating all scenarios is just a heavily edited version of the "leafy lake" map, which is well known - but some of the desert parks (dynamite dunes, pacific pyramids) are built off of the same map too, just with sand textures and no lake
i was going through my X archives and found this by @superpodsaga.com, which I qrt'd at some point years ago

so, let me bring the question back: what is the most useless piece of video game knowledge you know?

my beautiful small cat named email loves to lay on my boyfriend's chest but not mine. would i be the asshole if i incinerated him with some kind of particle beam so that i could be the sole object of the affections of email

when i'm done with this album i'll finally have time to play video games, go for a walk, watch movies, listen through my backlog. unfortunately as soon as i'm done with "this album" another "this album" will take its place, forever, until i die

mamdani shows the power of a savvy, sensitive brown boy with a well-groomed beard. i, too, know how to be charming and make racist old men smile at me. thats what we've had to learn to be capable of to survive on this continent

everyone still calling this "theft from artists" has to reckon with the fact that it's explicitly legal and that legality is made possible by the strict IP laws and copyright standards that these companies lobby for

When you're standing in your Tesco queue
Buyin' a white radish
In Tesco’s this afternoon: an elderly Polish man at the self-checkout, trying to buy a pint of milk and a white radish. There is no picture for the radish on the machine. The assistant doesn’t know what it is. She asks a colleague: “It’s a white radish.” There is no entry for it on the machine.

there's a tiny cat who was on the streets fending for herself a few months ago and now she's sleeping curled up to my leg. I have never been the first ever owner of a cat before and it's doing some "Mr Grinch's heart grew three sizes that day" shit to me

just tried to paste a few paragraphs of text into Notion, the App for Writing Text and Taking Notes, and it was like. "request too large." i love this. love that we've managed to make a notepad that can't do notes if you're taking notes too much

assuming proton decay, in the unimaginably far future, white dwarf stars will slowly radiate away enough heat and mass that they will emerge as spheres of diffuse, near-absolute-zero hydrogen and cease to be stars. the "AI bubble" will "burst" in much the same way
