But perhaps equally bad is a creator who uses their platform as a best friend, therapist, and diary

Again, focusing on individuals staying or going misses the point.

What does become a real problem is when the issue gets framed (usually by more gentry expats or those who follow them) as "everyone who stays is doomed."

That is false and it is genuinely, unacceptably damaging.

As someone who has a deep life long love of science it is always worthwhile to stop and ask ourselves

Are we using science as an imperfect tool to describe the world?

Or

Are we using science as a way to build rules so we can justify ignoring/dismissing parts of our lived reality?
