📚💙 Book 82 of 2025 is Murder on the Red River by Marcie R. Rendón. I love finding a new mystery series I can sink my teeth into. This is a good one. It’s written by an indigenous woman and is set in the 1970s. It’s more procedural than whodunnit, but still great. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Can I let you in on a little secret?

Billionaire philanthropy isn’t charity.

It’s PR to distract you from low wages, labor exploitation, and a tax system that’s rigged for the rich.

📚💙 Just finished reading First-Time Caller by @authorbkborison.bsky.social. It’s a good contemporary romance about a woman who has put romance on the back burner while she pursues her career and raising her daughter. 1/3

📚💙 Just finished Somebody’s Daughter by @smashfizzle.bsky.social. I loved it. It’s a pretty typical coming of age story, but Ashley C. Ford’s voice is powerful, and every page held my interest. In a world that ignored Black women’s voices for so long, this simple memoir feels revolutionary.

I can't stress enough that you should take every opportunity that comes your way to support your local public libraries. Many of them are currently struggling and are being DEFUNDED. Local action matters on this front. Don't sit back until those libraries are gone before taking ACTION.

Make it make sense. We are killing people in fishing boats in the Caribbean because of supposed (but totally unproven) drug trafficking, but we’re pardoning a man who was actually convicted of drug trafficking by a jury. This corrupt kakistocracy can’t even be a little consistent.
