In all my time covering #gamedev, I don't think I've ever seen Epic Games so directly pitch for #Unity3d developers to switch to #UnrealEngine!

Even if you don't want to switch, it's a heck of a tutorial -- for both engines!

Talked with PEGI and they do not see anything wrong Balatro being rated 18+, nor with EA sports FC (and similar games) having a 3+ rating

Blaming EU laws, blaming storefronts, waiting for the future. Sitting on their hands

I thought some good might come of this, this sucks

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is my favorite game of 2024 and I'm absolutely shocked by this.

The Forgotten City with Machine Games storytelling. Sometimes Dishonored, often Hitman. But really, a whole new blend of first person experience.

Normal Maps are magic.

These ceiling beams aren't actually full 3D models. Rather, they are models projected onto a flat texture, giving the ILLUSION that they're 3D. This is something I should've been using since the beginning.

for whatever reason godot doesn't allow adding multiple nodes to a group but at least it's the most hackable game engine on earth 😄

This tool is honestly fantastic. It's what I always wished Godot would internally provide out-of-the-box, similar to dotnet/nuget or node/npm/nvm. I even opened proposals to that end, but they never reached a consensus. GodotEnv is truly the next best thing. Try it out!
🥳 GodotEnv can now install addons from remote zip file url's!

Previously, it only supported installing addons from local and remote git repos or symlinks. 🤖 If you haven't used it before, GodotEnv is a command-line #godot installation and addons manager for mac/win/linux.

Had a lot of fun modeling this! Now it's time to code it's behavior.

(Game is ABYSS X ZERO btw! Wishlist to support us)

One year ago, I officially switched from Unity to Godot. To mark my one year Godotversary, here's a little retrospective thread of a few high-level learnings. Hopefully it'll be helpful for some folks who are thinking of making the switch. Also, AMA! 👇

It truly is breathtaking. I recall my excite at pre-Godot-3.0's immense potential when I first discovered it. Others' work often superseded my meager contributions (souring my experience a bit), but Godot always came out better; I love what it has become now. Looking forward to rejoining the effort.
