m8, you're dreamin
"He said he wanted to see the UK give up its nuclear weapons, saying he would try to persuade other nuclear-armed countries – including Russia – to do the same."

What an optimistic fellow.
EXC: Zack Polanski tells us Britain should consider closing US military bases, leave Nato and denuclearise, as he begins to flesh out the Greens’ foreign policy.

Also spells out to @pippacrerar.bsky.social and me his red lines in any coalition talks to come.

apparently as a 4 y/o i walked out of a catholic church service, leaving my parents behind, to play outside. they laughed about it at the time. as a 7y/o i staged a sit in at home to protest my forced attendance at the catholic primary school. it worked.
I've been exempted from the requiem mass.

on a day when hospice care is in the news my elderly mother who died yesterday afternoon, in her familiar room surrounded by family, and attended by the extraordinary carers at parkwoods, has just been farewelled by the residents and carers with a guard of honour and a waiata. just beautiful

The Australian and NZ govts need to grow a spine and make it abundantly clear that a US attack on Greenland would result in the end of all military and intelligence co-operation. No more AUKUS. No more Pine Gap. Cancellation of orders for military hardware from US suppliers. #auspol #nzpol

The perpetrators of the atrocities at Port Arthur and Christchurch and one of the two perpetrators of the Bondi massacre were Australian citizens. It is clear that Australian citizenship does not somehow magically make someone a fit and proper person to hold a gun licence.

i'm quite content on my own but sometimes i think polygamy might be ok?
like when your out walking and see a rock formation you could ask wife 1 what is that rock. and at night when the stars are out wife 2 could tell you the names. maybe also a tall wife, to reach those things up a little too high

the bit that i don't get is his decision to throw his lot in with a party that was/is a big part of the problems we have now
‘The problems we face are a consequence of the economic model we have built up in Aotearoa over the past forty years. But that model is a choice – one that we can change if we wish to.’

Craig Renney's 'The Good Economy' is out now!

kinda tragic how ppl who exhibit nearly all the hallmarks of common sense become deranged via fb and the reinforcing circle of like minded individuals.

the jewish musicians incarcerated in Terezin staged a requiem mass for their catholic nazi captors. the german camp guards thought it amusing- jews performing music from a catholic religion.
their response when mocked: we are doing this because one day you will also have to answer to your god
“ICE’s godless tactics are a total affront to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It stands in the face of the faith of our ancestors. It mocks the women & men who reared us to love the truth, to stand up for justice, & to never stand by idly while tyrants trample on the dignity and life of our neighbors.”
Pope Leo has condemned ICE more than a dozen times—and wept after hearing migrants describe the terror they endured. Now, after ICE killed a widowed American mother, it’s clear: no Catholic can remain in ICE.

If you have the courage to take the first step, the Church will help you find better work.
