Excited to share that our work previously shared as a preprint is now out today in it's final peer-reviewed form in PLOS One! #OpenAccess

Canadian natural science graduate stipends lie below the poverty line, by Fraass et al. 2025
🚨 New Paper 🚨
Coauthors and I just published our work in PLOS One on Canadian graduate funding. We found that Canadian graduate funding falls _well_ below cost of living.
On average, $10kCAD below cost of living.

Sent an email about this. I want to be relaxing on my (desperately needed) winter holiday building my baby (yes, expecting in April!) rather than scrambling with a decade of email data and countless logins.

Cranky pregnant lady 🤷‍♀️
Ugh, USask is getting rid of alumni email, looks like I get to spend my holidays doing a whack load of email management. Thankfully Western’s is still going strong

Big shout out to Icefield Discovery Tours for landing me on a glacier in the world's largest non-polar icefields to get to see this hulking mountain in the wild. www.icefielddiscovery.com/index.html

Some days as I tappity-tap in my home office, I can't believe this was a life I lived before!
Mount Logan, located in the Yukon, is the tallest mountain in Canada and the second-highest peak in North America after Denali.
The mountain inspired the adopted name of Wolverine, and was first summitted 100 years ago.
This is the story.

Do right whales use very shallow coastal waters (<20 fathoms)?
In southern Gaspé, 6 years of surveys found none. A small but useful piece of the puzzle for understanding coastal habitat use.
