As none of you told me, I'm assuming none of you know that you can turn off the AI answers in Google and trigger it to use web-only search. You'll still get slop at the top because that's just SEO in the Age of Enshittification, but do this to remove the overconfident arsewipe of a first answer.

Boff: "Brigitte Bardot died."

Me: "Oh? I didn't realise she was still alive."

Bless the new client who just paid immediately on receiving my invoice today.

My mum said she was doing her Christmas baking today and I requested extra shortbread to take home and she said she's not doing shortbread this year and the whole group chat imploded.

My other half is pushing me to go to the doctors to investigate my insomnia. I don't have insomnia, I just stay up stupidly late because that's the only time where I don't have a man/child/dog/cat/parent/friend bothering me for stuff and I can read/sew/play games in peace.

Hot day today. This little one turned up on my mum's balcony seeking shade.
December 20, 2025 at 7:20 AM
It's not the day's heat I'm worried about so much as the fact it'll still be 27C at midnight.

My friend once saw him at a medical facility and thought he looked familiar but didn't recognise him at first. She said she helped this lost old man press the lift button and then later was like "wait! that was John Howard!"
I have just had the awful experience of checking ABC TV, and what do I see? A press conference with John Howard FFS What is the significance of broadcasting this? And he sounds like he is senile

I'm all for gun reform, but could we also look at the seeds of the #bondi attack? People aren't radicalised in the womb. There's a pipeline from intolerance and anti-social behaviour to violence and terrorism and if we're not working to nip it in the bud then gun reform will only go so far.

The worst part is that so many people admire him for "telling it straight", even if they do not agree with him at all.
I want to emphasize this, and note that I have been saying it consistently for over 10 years now: *everything* about Trump is immediately visible. Everything. There's no there there, no depth, nothing hidden, no secrets. He's shallow as a puddle. It's all right there, immediate, obvious, glaring.

What kind of passive-aggressive bullshit is this? After 24 hours of exhaustive Bondi coverage, I play a bit of Spelling Bee to escape and this guy has a go at me for not being sad enough about it in the comments?!

Fuck off, I'm not bringing the news to the Spelling Bee forum.

Our insect trapper is basically an attractive blue light and a fan that blows the insects into a catchment below filled with water and a bit of detergent to break the surface tension so the insects drown. It's very effective but the worst part is emptying it. Smells so bad, insect bits everywhere.

I'm really heartened by how many people turned up to donate blood today. As a long-time blood donor (currently on hiatus due to anaemia), I've been feeling guilty all year that I haven't donated since January but feel this could be the start of a good habit for many to bolster the supply. #bondi

I got an iron infusion this morning so I'm supposed to avoid tannins and dairy for 24 hours. Naturally all I want to do is drink tea and eat cheese.

This makes me angry in all the ways you might suspect.

As a subeditor, I do fact-checking as part of my role and I cannot imagine what a fucking waste of time it would be for a busy editor to have to verify every single thing about a writer to prove they are not AI.

A suspicious pitch from a freelancer led editor Nicholas Hune-Brown to dig into their past work. By the end, four publications, including The Guardian and Dwell, had removed articles from their sites.

My mum was a Boomer meme/health alarm sharer until I talked to her as a media professional about fake news and viral outrage campaigns.

After years of being very good and not sharing anything that wasn't a restaurant special, she just shared a Youtube video about new driving rules and fines.

There's nothing like switching from subediting a bunch of compound-adjective-hyphen-happy writers to people who don't use them at all, even when they're supposed to, to really throw out your instincts about when to use one.

Went to my mum's church market day (so much cheaper than op shops + so many mature plants very generously priced) and agreed to meet her for coffee after her volunteer shift and then she forgot about me and drove home 🤣

(It's ok, I already knew I wasn't the favourite kid.)
