Dear President Obama,
I saw in your statement you said "Israeli families" & "the people of Gaza."
Palestinians have families, too.
This kind of language contributes to dehumanization. Dehumanization is part of what caused so many to stay silent as 20,000 children were killed in this genocide.
I've sat with wonderful Palestinian families from Gaza. They look at their children just like we look at ours - with all the love & hope in the world.

I love it! My chapter believe their homeworld to have been colonized by Bathory descendants and hold the unorthodox belief that she is the mother of Sanguinius by the Emperor, and thus revere her alongside them as a kid of vampire holy trinity.

While I am a Canadaphile, their colors are based on the heraldry of the Order of the Dragon: the knight order of which both Vlad Tepes snd Erzebet Bathory were members. So new and creative war crimes will still be forthcoming!

A few months into the edition an article appeared in White Dwarf magazine introducing the idea that Space Marines were bioengineered superman with a slew of implanted synthetic organs. It was a retcon. Violent but otherwise ordinary men in power armor were suddenly the peak of bioengineering. /3

When 40k dropped back in '87, Space Marines were said to be violent convicts conscripted from prison and brain washed into being loyal elite soldiers. Nothing was said about them being transhuman giants. /2

Well I was inspired to write a thing.

The return
The embers burned low in the grate, their glow barely enough to reach the hearth. A huge wolf snored on the flagstones in front of the fireplace, deep slow breaths the only sound in the chamber.
A figure moved in the gloom, shifting position in a simple high back chair. For a moment the light caught deep set eyes, a flash of yellow iris and strange, vertically slit pupils.
Logan Grimnar, Chapter Master of the Space Wolves, Lord of the Rout, Keeper of the Aett was troubled. The great rift had split the galaxy in two, punishing the already hard pressed Wolves. Squads, even whole companies were missing. While Grimnar trusted his warriors could face down any foe as the years had ground on he had begun to fear the worst. He had returned to Fenris to resupply and, after barking orders, and exchanging terse words with those advisors that remained he had found himself alone. He was brooding. Dark thoughts pulling at his mind like the stygian shadows that haunted the echoing halls of the massive fortress.
A knock disturbed the silence, snapping Grimnar back to the present. The sleeping wolf grunted briefly then resumed its snoring.
The blackened door swung open, revealing Brother Icehalt, the duty officer of his Wolf Guard. This deep in the aett he was out of his battleplate, instead he wore leatherwork armour, the knotwork telling a tale of his exploits for those with the ken to read it.
'My lord,' said Icehalt, 'You are needed in the great hall.'
'What has happened?'
'It.' hesitated Icehalt, 'it is better that you witness for yourself.'
Logan paused. He had witnessed Icehalt tear the head from a Tyranid hive tyrant, one of many great deeds that had earned the warrior his place among the elite. The see the veteran nonplussed was disquieting.
'Lead on.'
'They walked right in, my lord,' said Icehalt, 'passed every scry system, knew every code key. We caught up with them here.'
'Why were they not confronted sooner?'

*We are stretched thin and, well, they were helmed and armoured. Why would the serfs doubt them?'
They were not my helmed now. The small group of space marines were holding court around one of the fire pits surrounded by a growing gathering of Wolves. Someone had opened a barrel of miod and the newcomers were quaffing with gusto. Their armour was old, ancient. Mark Il and Ill for the most part with one wearing an immense suit of Cataphractii terminator plate.
One stood out from the rest. Literally. They were a full head taller than the terminator, their armour obviously a masterpiece even from this distance. At their hip hung an enormous frost blade.
They were a strange sight for all bore the marks of the rout, their antique power armour was rune carved, their weapons ice forged, and all were women.
Their leader caught sight of Grimnar and beckoned him over. The great wolf took their measure as he walked. Tall, taller even than he, a mane of ash blonde hair fell in plaits over one shoulder, eyes the blue of a winters dawn glinted with mischief. She carried herself with effortless grace. Grimnars practiced eye was not fooled, noting the careful stance, balanced to erupt into violence in a heartbeat if the moment called for it. She carried herself like a general.
'Welcome,' she said, 'join us.'
'And who are you to welcome me to my own hall?' Growled Logan.
'Why?' Grinned the visitor, 'don't you recognise me?'
The stranger drew her blade, offering it hilt first to Grimnar, He took it, testing ts balance and casting his eye over the runes inscribed on the silver blade
'Mjalnar.' He breathed.
'The very same.'
'How did you come by this?'
'I never surrendered it.'
'Who do you claim to be?'
'Drink with me, great wolf, and I shall tell you such a tale the skialds would weep.'

Logan took the proffered cup and took a deep draught and turned to Icehalt.
'Go to the vaults, have the priests raise the fell-handed from his slumber. He shall have the knowing of this.'
"Very well, my lord,' said Icehalt, 'and what of you?'
‘I have a saga to hear’

Many hour later Grimnar was deep in his cups. More barrels of mjod had been brought forth, all warriors present in the aett had heard tell of the guests and had gathered. At first curious they had become enraptured by the telling of the tale and drunk deep of ale and mystery. Games had broken out, dice and bones, feats of strength and endurance. The women, the marines for they could only be thus, had partaken with gusto. More barrels until they ran dry, then amasec, wine, the strange bottles brought as gifts by rare visitors or retrieved from worlds across the imperium. Logan stared at the vessel in his hand. The remnants of a vibrant yellow liquor sloshed in the bottom. He drained the sickly liquid and tossed the bottle aside.
Apparently the saga had reached a high point as the assembled audience roared their appreciation, those that remained conscious of course.
Heavy footfalls echoed through the hall. Bjorn approached. First great wolf, most ancient living warrior of the imperium, dreadnought. He walked towards the tall marine who still held court unstoppable as a glacier.
"Who joins us?' Asked the stranger, leaving the light of the fire to confront the mighty war machine.
'I could ask the same,' rumbled Bjorn.
The stranger examined the dreadnought, taking in the frieze, the runes and wards, honour marks and sarcophagus.
'Bjorn?' She asked, 'is it truly you?'
'How do you know me?'
'Take a good look, old friend.'
She stepped back, standing squarely in front and turning in a slow circle.
Cold blue eyes met blood red sensorium. The moment stretched. Minutes passed.
'Forgive me, Leman, I cannot bow.' Said Bjorn at last.'
"You bow to no one, and it's Leanne now.' Said the primarch.

I read somewhere that they did want to use a town in Japan neae Mount Fuji named Silent Hill as the map, but they decided not to due to Mount Fuji being too prominent a feature and they didn't want to have to work around it while creating the layout.

I am not having a good time building this model. A model this chonky should not be this fiddly. I'm about to the point of wanting to find whoever designed it and show them what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps.
