Seine erste Millionenspende für eine Privatstadt gab Thiel explizit mit dem Hinweis, dass das Wahlrecht von Sozialhilfebezieher*innen und das der Frauen das Problem seien. Dies hätte den Begriff "kapitalistische Demokratie" zu einem Widerspruch in sich gemacht. Deshalb brauche man Privatstädte.
