Ngl I think about this a lot in terms of lockpicking because like... Literally the best lock on earth is GOING to be cracked (with, that's right, a master lock! youtube.com/shorts/1HS-d... )... making it too frustrating to unlock properly will also keep out honest people which is Not Good
ok so i actually know somebody non-disabled who does this and i can tell you: if someone's determined to cheat the system, NOTHING is going to stop them. able-bodied cheaters have the energy to jump through all the hoops. making things harder only gatekeeps accommodations from people who need it.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.
