i do think that it's underrated that the most significant negative impact of sonic's transition to 3d was how the dev teams constantly had to find ways to pad the runtime because they didn't have the content pipeline to produce enough levels to justify full retail price

"reawakened" as in "never owned a post-mega drive sega console so between that and the Sonic hiatus until Adventure, didn't get back into Sonic until getting a Gamecube and Adventure 2 Battle"
watching gameplay of sonic heroes and remembering just how disappointing that game was to me as a 12/13yo reawakened sonic fan

Honestly I thought 3 was a bridge too far already. Once they decided to just port the PS3 versions of 3-5 to PS4 I figured Kiwami was done, just applied to the PS2 games.
[Final Weapon] Yakuza Kiwami 3 might be the Last Kiwami Game, According to Prod. Masayoshi Yokoyama - further games could be a new series (timeline?)
