Well well well it was bound to happen but today for the first time a French person attempted to tell me that what we say in Quebec (where we speak French just as much as they do in France!!!) is *incorrect* 🤬🤬

Turns out this was all much ado about nothing and Google isn’t using your Gmail to train AI and if wanna turn all that stuff back on you can get your spam filters back
Looks like the article has been updated to suggest maybe they misread the policy.

I see people complaining that this also disabled their spam filters, though I still see new messages showing up in spam so it's still working fine for me after disabling things.
[Correction] Gmail can read your emails and attachments to power "smart features"
Did you know that Gmail can use your emails and attachments for its smart features? Here's how to check your settings.

I originally shared this but it now appears that nothing has changed. The article from which this was taken has published a correction (see the post I just reposted for the correction). Apologies for the confusion!
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

I really think everyone, all users, should subscribe to blacksky's moderation. @moderation.blacksky.app I've said it before. Nonblack users laugh it up with & boost accounts we can see are flagged for antiblackness all the time. Keeping watch for antiblackness should be part of an ally's journey.

The most American thing I’ll read all day
The last allied soldier to be killed on the Western Front in 1918 was American Henry Gunther; at 10:59am on the 11th he charged astonished Germans who knew the armistice was only seconds away.
