All this in the second largest city in the country, a blue city in a blue state, and if you raise the issue people will act as if you’re producing a libelous slander of law enforcement.
Max Huntsman, the inspector general tasked with holding the LA Sheriff’s Department to account, is retiring… and going out with a bang in this letter 🔥

Many religions are heavily concentrated in a few countries
Half of the world’s population lives in just seven countries. But some of the world’s religious groups are even more concentrated than that.

Just like we did on Thanksgiving Day. It’s less about celebrating a holiday than about making sure no one has to go through it alone. Everything closed, social media images, the weather itself — we’re supporting community by addressing human needs and mental health.

If you’re in the Bay, come thru.
Our final event of the year.

Whether you celebrate the day or not, we just want to make sure everyone has a place to go, and some good food to eat.

It’s all free with RSVP.

See you 2-5pm at Beaux in the Castro.

The first Kickback @ The Edge was absolute 🔥🔥🔥

More to come on our IG but this little bit tells the story.

PS,
Our little “90s Mariah vs 2000s Mariah” had all 100 people in the bar singing their hearts out word for word. 2000s Mariah went 3 to 1 after four rounds.

See you at the next one. ✨💗

January 3rd in the Castro? Something like that.

We’re doing Saturday nights in the Castro like they haven’t been done in a LONG time.

At some point, tying your name to one of the pillars in advancing systemic violence becomes an irresponsible choice — for reporters, op-ed writers, advertisers, panel participants…

Because why wouldn’t they work for someone else? What argument is “good enough”? Where is the moral line?

Why do people think ponytail earned the Oscar playing that Good Facade of Power Built on the Demonization and Labor of Someone Else in the movie?

Ex: “down with the oligarchy” when others might think other simpler and broader terms are good enough in common conversation.

(When you use language to enhance precision, you are doing it on based on a scaffolded layering of previous language and learning of a topic. Then, when these enhanced terms are used in persuasive messaging, it lands with a thud — your context is removed yet you assume it for others.)

Yesterday, I held a music festival in my district to register voters and speak directly to young people who don’t usually attend political events. 4,500 tickets. Music + advocacy go hand in hand. Madsoul Festival 2025 was a success.

Further evidence that widespread covid vaccination is better for everybody.
A study on 1.7 million people in Hong Kong shows superior hybrid immunity to Covid in people who got vaccinated before infection vs. people who got infected first. "Our findings are a direct rebuttal to arguments for natural immunity," the authors write. doi.org/10.1016/j.va...

us: can we have condiments

the uk: we have condiments at home

the condiments at home:
I found this near the Bisto and Worcestershire sauce at the UK store. It makes me feel like I’m using some old timey, pre-FDA ✨special sauce✨ in my cooking

We did brunch to celebrate our last party event of the year. One more community event to go, on Xmas Day.

Shrimp n grits; crab cake benedict. Not pictured: skillet corn bread, tequila paloma, and house rum punch.

During ratification of the 14th Amendment, senators discussed whether the Citizenship Clause would apply to the children of immigrants and resoundingly concluded that it did. The text and history all point in one direction and the counter-arguments are patently fraudulent. I am going to lose my mind
The evidence is the text. All you have to do is read the Constitution.
