I used to love this place as it has a really interesting outdoor seating area great coffee, and interesting vibe but the owner of this place I have watched verbally abuse her employees and it's disgusting. I remember going in one day and watching one of the baristas look like she was noticeably afraid of her employer like she was walking on eggshells and it was very odd and noticeable. I thought this lady might've been stressed out to work there. A few weeks later, I was going by this place as I live nearby and I saw this owner of this coffee shop, screaming at the top of her lungs in the face of this same barista.
Just verbally ripping into her verbally, abusing her something is wrong with that lady. Anytime I'm around that owner of this shop. I get the icky feeling. I've watched her scream at the top of her lungs in the face of someone who was just trying to do their best working for her. Everyone is stressed lady, some of us more than others, you don't take your stuff people.... I felt incredibly bad for that barista who appeared to be a middle-age mom type of person. I will never return to this place even though it was so close by and had an interesting unique vibe, loving small business. I will never go here again lady you need therapy to apologize to that chick..

What we don't talk about enough is the dignity harm suffered by women who have to share the public sphere with guys who go around talking about our bodies like we're a public resource whose use and distribution they're qualified to determine.

The entire debate over whether or not protestors should use violence comes down to the fact that the definition of “violence” is applied unevenly to different groups on the basis of power.

If you’re attempting to upend the status quo, someone will always call something you did violent.

One of the things that brings me the greatest despair in authoritarianism is watching people react to state violence the way they react to domestic violence.

By justifying anything and everything the perpetrators does through blaming a victim for failing to be submissive enough.

A lot of really bad advice (and bad social dynamics) come from people wanting to appear wise and in the know. There’s no one weird trick. It’s all scary and hard and no one knows all of it. Get advice but don’t trust it.

One of my least favorite social media trends when protests get hot is people doing “undercover cop” phrenology. This isn’t going to keep you safe. You have to be careful around people who look like they’re in your scene.
