Problem is that its assumptions are wrong. But some classics survive incorrect starting points. Shepsle’s structure introduced equilibrium is one of the great ideas of political science.

Rat choice is extremely useful in the fact that the approach makes its assumptions explicit rather than implicit, which is good.

Rat choice failed as foundational, but as a heuristic has its uses. I hope some of my work helped in that failure. Unfortunately too much political behavior today ignores groups, focusing on individual attitudes instead.

Political Science research took a hard detour to economics with the rational choice movement while I've always thought we'd be better off if we were closer to sociology. You just cannot escape the centrality of groups.

Texas A&M is deploying AI to search professors’ syllabi for forbidden topics. One of the early massive uses of AI may well be monitoring and controlling individual behavior by government. That means you, TAMU Regents.

I’m a Longhorn. As such, I do indeed love throwing barbs at OU and Texas A&M, our famed rivals.

Having said this, what’s happening to their academic freedom is devastating. They are both excellent schools. They admit bright students. Those students deserve SO much better.
