I keep seeing posts about the celebrity mom drama. My biggest takeaway from that is ... when did Mandy Moore start looking like that? She doesn't even look like her anymore. When someone said she's in the group picture, I had to guess which she was.

I truly have to believe this (and I do! like, I think it is absolutely true). But I need to remember and hold it inside my heart these days.
As ever... the vast, vast majority of people don't want the hellscape the right is forcing on us. they really are the minority viewpoint. vocal? yes. powerful? unfortunately, yes. But there are so many more people who don't want to live in the world they're trying to make.

I need people to wrap their minds around the fact that here in Minneapolis, ICE broke the window of a vehicle yesterday, pepper sprayed the occupants, and arrested them, and shot another observer in the face today, and OBSERVERS ARE STILL GOING OUT TO PROTECT THEIR NEIGHBORS AT MASSIVE PERSONAL RISK
I’m eating lunch, I’m having a panic attack, I’m charging my phone, and then I’m going back out to try and keep my neighborhood safe.

My very smart colleagues are doing excellent coverage of the ICE shooting in Minneapolis today. I would urge you to follow along with local sources familiar with the area and the residents here.
Live: Mayor Frey blasts ICE in fiery response to fatal shooting
The mayor called for calm after a fatal shooting by an immigration agent in south Minneapolis. ICE said the agent acted defensively.

I'm going to a new dentist and looking at the paperwork. While they still charge cancellation fees (less than 48 hrs), 100% of those fees are donated to 3 charities. So that's rather nice.

Oh, no, I just sneezed a lot. For the 1st time, I didn't wear a mask (I forgot it) when I went grocery shopping, and I was there an extended time. And I know there was a teen there, who I was around a couple of times, who was sneezing. I haven't gotten my flu or covid shot this season.

I’m at Times Square, where an emergency “No War On Venezuela” protest just took to the street. Easily a thousand people here in real-feel 20°F weather.

“No more coups, no more wars, Venezuela’s not yours!”

“No boots on the ground no bombs in the air, U.S. out of everywhere!”

I was wondering what Mamdani's first executive order would be, and I'm not disappointed by this.

He has wiped off the books EVERY Eric Adams executive order issued on or after September 26, 2024, the day Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges.

Last night, girl & I set goals for the year. It's not a thing we do at all, but since we weren't doing anything, I thought it was a good time to do it. I have a few, but they really go under 2 umbrellas: become healthier and make space.

Roku currently has a Xena channel, which is cool. But I haven't been watching from the beginning, and Xena is one of those shows that makes sense when you watch in order. This ep has Ares, my favorite. Also has Callisto, who is one of my faves.

I have a lot of stuff on my to do list because I've just been very lazy the past few days. So, what do I do today? Something that's not on my list -- cleaning the fridge. But I guess it's a good thing -- the new year is coming up after all. Also, I need to know what we have & what we don't.

USPS quietly changed its postmark rules — mail is no longer dated when you drop it off. The “official” date is when it hits automated sorting — sometimes days later

Which could have major implications for mail in voting — it’s a clever way to disenfranchise voters that’s going largely overlooked
