I generally love #Springwatch but I am getting sick of the Oasis references getting shoehorned in by Chris every other sentence.

The unbelievable condescension we’re already seeing today towards working class people- suggesting they don’t travel to Europe or their kids might not want to go to university and study in Europe- is quite something to behold.

I suppose President Biden’s critcial interview about Trump does “break with previous former Presidential convention” if you just ignore the orange hulk who spent 4yrs criticising Biden fiercely, repeated his “stolen election” lies and claimed Biden was responsible for his convictions.

That speech by the Doctor at the end of tonight's #DoctorWho was as subtle as a baseball bat to the face, but boy did it sum up how it feels right now.

Way too many politicians think the newspapers represent public opinion in the way they did in the last century. Today's newspapers are waaaay to the right of the general public.
Many politicians - Tony Blair just the latest - appear more sceptical about public support for net zero agenda than evidence suggests is warranted.

Most recent YouGov poll found 61% of UK voters support govt plans on this, with just 24% opposed…

Le Pen’s ‘Save Democracy’ rally after guilty verdict falls short of expectations
The French far right has framed the verdict against Le Pen as an attack on democracy — but was unable to attract a large crowd to a rally of support on Sunday.

Never trust a Tory talking about "oven ready deals." #BBCLauraK And one with Trump wouldn't be worth the paper it's printed on.

It is also worth noting that the UK could double its healthcare spending and still only be just above average.
Our for-profit health care system is not only broken & cruel, it's extremely wasteful.

While we spend billions on stock buybacks, CEO compensation & denying needed care, Medicare for All would save $650 billion & 68,000 lives a year per CBO & Yale University. Let's get it done.

Maybe the plan is to make Putin laugh so hard his head literally falls off.
Hard to keep up...

...but it seems in an afternoon Donald Trump is willing to:

- Give up Crimea and occupied Donbas on Kyiv's behalf
- Deny Ukraine Nato membership
- Demand Europe 100k provide peace keepers
- Rehabilitate Putin, though he invaded

+ De-emphasise US defence of Europe

And BBC News was breathlessly reporting about the opportunities of AI and interviewing Amazon Europe's AI person with zero criticism or even a hint of scepticism.
BBC just released damning research on AI assistants' news accuracy.

Results: 51% of AI responses had significant issues. 19% introduced errors when citing BBC. 13% misquoted or made up BBC content entirely. 🤐🤐

The @wildjustice.bsky.social petition to ban driven grouse shooting has passed 50k. Halfway.

Please feel free to sign it if you object to gamekeepers exterminating almost all other species so that pissed toffs can shoot medicated birds in decimated landscapes.

I'm currently having a crack at Mass Effect Andromeda in an effort to finish it. So I was surprised to see an article on Vice about someone doing the same thing. Except it never talks about them actually doing it, just why they are. Which is baffling, it feels unfinished.

Musk is reportedly considering a donation around 10x the size of the previous record donation. This is an Armada off Plymouth grade foreign assault on our democracy.

We need to act like it.
I understand the point here, but strongly disagree.

That politicians have failed to protect our democracy in the past does not justify a failure to protect it now.

The risk that our democratic system could be flooded with foreign money is real and immediate. It needs real and immediate action.
Changing electoral donation rules to stop one donor a bad idea. To change system that has benefited established parties & stop donations that now benefit an insurgent party will confirm sense system is rigged & drive backlash. To avoid that do a change which comes into effect after next election
