Join us this Saturday to hear from candidates running for Congress in our area!

Democrats are fed up with the unconditional support our country grants to the Israelis, particularly while they prohibit aid from being distributed in Gaza. We urge our members, neighbors, and friends to tell @durbin.senate.gov and @duckworth.senate.gov that they must support an arms embargo.
48thneighbors.bsky.social
Today @sanders.senate.gov is introducing resolution to block arms transfers to Israel. Senate Joint Resolution 34 and 41 would prevent the sale of guns, bombs, and support systems that have let the Israeli government dispossess, disenfranchise, and kill Palestinians in the West Bank and in Gaza.

The time is long overdue for Congress to stop funding Israel’s illegal and horrific war against the Palestinian people.

The U.S. must not support a government which is starving children.

Tomorrow, I will force votes in the Senate to block the sale of weapons to Netanyahu.

If you live in Edgewater sign the petition to support the Broadway rezoning for more housing and affordability in our neighborhood!

Opponents were outnumbered 2-1 during Plan Commission but are trying to intimidate their way to blocking housing for our neighbors.

We’ll bring the basics (burgers, dogs, veggie alternatives, basic sides, stuff to eat them with), you bring the extras (beverages for the cooler, sides to share, anything special you want to throw on the grill for yourself).

Btws - want to show your opposition to the criminal Trump administration this Saturday, but can’t get to the main protest downtown because of mobility concerns or childcare obligations? Some neighbors are having an Edgewater-specific event that you can go to at the same time!
48thneighbors.bsky.social
Need a protest buddy? We’ve got several members going in a group. DM us directly and we’ll get you in touch with the IPO crew.
48thneighbors.bsky.social
Donald Trump wants a military parade? In this city he’ll have a protest instead.

This Saturday organizations like @indivisiblechicago.bsky.social will be rallying downtown from 12-2 to oppose this racist, criminal administration. We encourage all of our members, neighbors, and friends to attend.

250 Edgewater (Chicago) residents and allies protected kids and parents participating in drag story hour this morning at @chicagopubliclibrary’s Edgewater Library.
A crowd of people holding Pride flags gathers outside a mural-covered building on a sunny day; some police officers and safety vests are visible among the attendees.

"On Michigan Avenue on Wednesday, after ICE officials got into shiny black SUVs and trucks and drove away, Gerardo Perez, 23, stood outside the office with his family. His mother was taken, he said. They live in Rogers Park, and he has six siblings. She had been here for close to 40 years."
Chicago aldermen and protesters clash with ICE outside office over detentions
In another sign of escalating tension over President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, community organizers, protesters and several Chicago aldermen clashed with federal agents Wednesday.

ICE has chosen to detain her for no reason other than it would be easy for them to do so, and they must release her.

And Gladis is not a unique case. This criminal agency is working on behalf of our criminal President to attack people who pose no risk to anybody just to get their numbers up.
48thneighbors.bsky.social
Gladis was arrested during a routine check-in with the Intensive Supervision Appearance Program, which he has dutifully followed while pursuing asylum in the United States. She has no criminal record and is a danger to no one. She is gainfully employed and has close family here.

Yesterday masked cowards working for Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Gladis Yolanda Chavez Pineda, a mother, grandmother, and organizer with @ocadchicago.bsky.social.

This means that the work the @chiabortionfund.bsky.social will be even more crucial.

We have raised over $6.5K for them during this year’s Fundathon. It ends today, and a donor is matching all contributions made before midnight. You can donate at the link below. fund.nnaf.org/give/t640722...

We are disgusted to hear that our neighbors in Missouri will have their access to abortion care blocked for the foreseeable future. Not only has their State Supreme Court overturned the will of their voters, this will put more strain on services in Illinois. www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/abo...
Abortions stopped in Missouri again in wake of State Supreme Court ruling
Planned Parenthood halted abortions in Missouri after the state's top court ordered new rulings in the tumultuous legal saga over a ban that voters struck down last November.

With a little more than one week left to go before the fundathon ends, we have crushed our original goal and raised $3,386 for the Chicago Abortion Fund! We are so grateful for all the support our members, neighbors, and friends have shown for abortion care access.
