here's the first in a very long series called "The Months and Seasons"
this is "January." everything here represents January specifically, the birth stone garnet, the carnations and the deer skull to represent the harshness of midwinter.

'In the Restaurant,' (1907) is one of Charles Hoffbauer's most acclaimed works. It was painted in the ballroom at the then recently opened Hotel Astor in New York City. The picture was completed a few months after Hoffbauer's sixth appearance at the Paris Salon.

Had some leftover cinnamon rolls, so popped one in the microwave to warm it back up and then topped it with some good vanilla ice cream and caramel topping.

'Ilex Wood,' was painted by John Singer Sargent in the summer of 1908 on the island of Majorca. When it was first exhibited forty years later (it had stayed in Sargent's studio), critics praised 'its tapestried weavings of forms and colours into a brilliant expression.'

Art matters.
Art is a powerful means of speaking truth to power.

When it seems the powerless are being silenced, artists, musicians, writers, entertainers, and poets give the people a voice.

I’m at a video game competition/conference with one of the kids. It is amazing. Lots of “weirdos” (in the best way) just being themselves. This is the America I want to live in. I want people to be able to not fit in and find their own way.
