We are in the maelstrom of a multi-century struggle for this nation. If we don’t understand that, then we will fail to understand what’s at stake.

And we will under-react to the danger of this moment. That is why we need to know how history brings us here.
“The white supremacist, anti-14th Amendment, post-Brown movement has the complicity or active engagement of all three branches of government as it works to undo the constitutional infrastructure of Reconstruction and the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement.”

The true meaning of Christmas. 💚
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

A critically endangered North Atlantic right whale first spotted off Ireland in 2024 has been reidentified near Boston after crossing the Atlantic — a rare journey highlighting both the species’ resilience and how much scientists still have to learn.

"Treating women’s humanity like a thought exercise makes it that much easier to legislate away." 🎯
Why decline all these chances to defend feminism? Because to participate would be accepting the premise that our rights and humanity are up for debate in the first place.

Once you’ve conceded that it’s reasonable to ask whether women’s equality was a mistake, you’ve already lost.

periodically I'll see a backlash that goes a little too far or seems kinda unfair. i never say anything because i think we need to be kinda unhinged and zealous in our response to this shit. I'd take an honest-to-God crusade against this stuff over letting it proliferate.
We can do even more.

“Losing staff is bad enough, but losing senior experts with the experience and knowledge needed to save endangered species is devastating,” said Noah Greenwald, our endangered species co-director.
