It might be different when talking about the company itself, but I’ve rarely heard of editorial oversight for a conference talk from an engineer who wasn’t on the DevRel team.

For example when I was at DigitalOcean we had special promo codes for every event so we could see where customers came from. But there were not specific job postings to track candidate sources.

Pre-pandemic it was mostly about hiring instead of marketing, except for dev tools companies who had full DevRel teams to manage.
