Her legacy is the voices she lifted, the systems she shook, and the hope she instilled. The disabled people's community are honoured to have her in our lineage. Rest in power, Alice. ✨ /5

‘Death remains my intimate shadow partner. It has been with me since birth, always hovering close by. I understand one day we will finally waltz together into the ether. I hope when that time comes, I die with the satisfaction of a life well-lived, unapologetic, joyful, & full of love.’

There are people you never have the honor of knowing but you feel the ripple effects of their person and their work from the folks who have met them.

Alice Wong made waves that went far. A tremendous loss. Memory eternal.
The incredible, indomitable, inspirational Alice Wong has left us.

I'm so grateful to have known her on social media, and so grateful for all the words she shared with us and all the actions she encouraged us into making.

May we live up to her example.

We cozy-maxed our bed a couple years ago, and it's the best decision we ever made.
Question 18:
If the goal is cozy-maxing, what are you doing? (Again, don’t admit to any crimes)

We called him Rubicon after he let it slip that was his nickname in HS. He was our favorite because he created a safe space wherever he went. If his door was open, anyone could hang in his classroom. It was the only math class I enjoyed.
Question 4:
Was your favorite teacher in school teaching one of your least favorite subjects?

It was very surreal when I was suddenly cool for knowing Linda Ronstadt's music before the best episode of Last of Us dropped.
In 2005, I regularly had to listen to CDs with 50s big band, all kinds of 70s/80s rock, 60s/70s/80s folk and country...

I was also the one who had to get their CD collections into iTunes with metadata. 😮‍💨

When I highlight a variable, VS Code is highlighting its definition in blue/purple and its usage in green. It's not occurrence or syntax highlighting. Has it always done this? How do I turn it off? I hate it.

My best advice for becoming a digital accessibility specialist is to make it your job, regardless of your title.

Making a presentation? Putting together a design? Building something in code?

In anything you do, be curious about what it takes to make it more accessible

My wolves came to a compromise - pastel goth.
my friend picking out plates: “do I go with rainbow or goth?”

Me: ah yes, the two genders

truly I have this debate with myself every day. All the colors or none the colors? There is no in between.

Just writing down the names of all the conferences my friends from the UK seem to love, so I can stalk their cfps, and eventually have an excuse to go to the UK. 🤣

This is also an accessibility thing - there's a reason there's an <abbr> element.
Everybody seems to have this problem. I have worked for non profits, factories, state and local government and each time I come in, people start spewing acronyms, and internal terms like they are taught to every school child in 4th grade.

Stop already.
November 10, 2025 at 7:25 PM
Also, define your acronyms!!! I've spent entire cybersecurity talks frantically googling acronyms.

🤔 Essentially, I am deeply annoyed that the tradecrafts of fiber arts are treated as "granny's hobby" when they are skills with a deep history akin to woodworking and gardening. All of those skills produce things that can help you survive or improve your quality of life.
