This is from yesterday but I've only just seen it and it's pretty extraordinary. Rachel Maclean, Tory peer who was an MP and minister alongside Nadhim Zahawi, and was until recently a key aide to Kemi Badenoch, saying he was:

• Universally disliked
• Never in his constituency
• Can't be trusted.

I am delighted to welcome Nadhim Zahawi to Reform UK. He will bring useful experience, such as claiming £6,000 to heat his stables and avoiding £3.7m tax by hiding £27m offshore and threatening to sue anyone who asked about it.

The remarkable thing here isn't the universal revulsion. Its that two large parties - Reform and the Conservatives - are trying to maintain stances favoured by around 0-1% of the public.

Polling like this also suggests that whenever Labour does develop enough backbone to act, there's no going back

Labour can extend this beyond X and start going after Reform politicians making money from the site. "Will Farage give back the money he made from this sex offender site?" Etc...

I do enjoy these CCHQ quotes: "Yes another of the people we promoted to extremely important roles is a grifting wanker."
A Tory spokesperson goes in two-footed: "Reform is fast becoming the party of has-been politicians looking for their next gravy train. Their latest recruit used to say he'd be 'frightened to live in a country' run by Nigel Farage, which shows the level of loyalty for sale."
Former Conservative cabinet minister Nadhim Zahawi has defected to Reform UK

Having served in numerous ministerial positions for successive prime ministers, his defection will likely be seen as the most high-profile yet

"Britain needs Nigel Farage as prime minister," he said on Monday morning

New version of Nigel Farage's defence against multiple claims of school-era racism and antisemitism - Farage tells a press conference that the accusations are "meaningless", because claims of racism are now so common. This is slightly different from last week's "fantasies".

❤️‍🔥Tory sources confirm that Nadhim Zahawi made approaches to senior members of Kemi Badenoch's team about getting a peerage just weeks before defecting to Reform UK - but was turned down.

Amid yet another day off what=the-hell news, this really is almost beyond belief: the chair of the US Federal Reserve releasing a video statement stating that he is being threatened with concocted criminal charges because he won't set the interest rates the president wants to see.

I think this is very poorly misunderstood. The reason why the 'the UK, a dangerous crimehole' stuff matters is that people in other countries who might invest in the UK see it online and believe it, not because the electoral constituency for it is particularly large or significant.
When we look at satisfaction with policing (I know, not the same as perceptions of crime, but hopefully helpful proxy) and crime rates in Police Force Areas, there is a clear link (interactive maps here tinyurl.com/c56jbcwc). And our Issues Index has concern with crime relatively low. ...
