Perth, Western Australia, is blessed with some amazing bike routes. Our Principal Shared Paths system gives safe continuous access, for pedestrians and cyclists, to much of the Greater metropolitan area. youtube.com/shorts/_zh8v...

An Australian bank is using Alaskan Malamutes in their current promotions.

That means that our Snowdog and other rescues will be inundated Malamutes and Huskies in 9-18 months time.

Car dependence. This is a Perth Western Australian story as well.
Once you see it, you can't unsee forced car dependency.

Cars have degraded our entire economy, environment, culture, and lives. Forced car dependency makes us poorer, less healthy, and less connected to our neighbors.

The first step of a cure is to recognize that we have a car problem.
“The United States, with its enormous highways, sprawling suburbs and neglected public transport systems, is one of the most car-dependent countries in the world. But this arrangement of obligatory driving is making many Americans actively unhappy, new research has found.”

Like there are people we personally know who should not have access to firearms.

There are also people we know who should not be able to operate a motor vehicle. They should only be passengers.
This is attempted murder and should be prosecuted as such.

It's the oligarchs, I tell you.
Guys, it's the oligarchs. If you want to blame someone for 2024, blame the oligarchs. Anyone telling you to blame someone else is part of the oligarchy. Dark money has been to blame since citizens united.

In Australia, I can not "like" or comment on this Democracy Now article. Apparently, USAers can not interact with the article either.

Preferential voting is way ahead of 1st past the post like USA & UK, but proportional voting is the fairest most democratic system.

This is how the Australian House of Representatives would look if we had Proportional voting.

3 near hits as a pedestrian, while walking on footpaths by car wearers running over curbs to avoid rear-ending other car wearers. And NO! we are not talking driveways or road intersections.
Never by a villainous cyclist. (Even though cyclists are allowed to ride on the footpath in my jurisdiction).
the villain.

Boorloo Bridge is definitely open. A very welcome addition to Perth's multimodal transportation network.
