Civil rights activist Medgar Evers was shot in the back by a Klansman in 1963.

The National Park Service has removed visitor brochures from Evers' museum and reportedly plans to remove references that call his murderer a “racist"
Medgar Evers’ killer was a Klansman, but Trump administration says stop calling him a racist - Mississippi Today
Among anticipated changes to a new visitor brochure for the Medgar & Myrlie Evers Home National Monument is no longer using "racist" to describe the killer of the civil rights leader.

Imagine if four years into our war in Iraq we had only occupied 20 percent of it and lost 1.2 million men. Would anyone say the US is winning?

No? Then how in the hell can you say Russia is winning?!

Updating the @prospect.org tracker of people immigration agents have killed or caused to die and I'm heartbroken to say that we have sixteen more entries. SIXTEEN.

Our total is now 24 deaths since January 2025 -- not counting the dozens who died in custody.

Defense attorneys say law enforcement obtained "30 days" of camera images of Marimar Martinez's car all over Chicago.

"They presumably wanted to be able to show her driving from the dynamite factory … to the suicide vest store."

They say she was likely caught going to Target, instead.

I asked Ron Wyden what his cryptic letter to the CIA was all about. He wouldn't say.

"I wrote it for a specific reason. That’s all I can say.”

He did a similar thing before, in 2011, and illicit spy activities were later revealed by Edward Snowden

Ron Wyden has previously warned about spy abuses before they were public. Now he and Mark Warner say something else is up.

Context: this speech is from SIR THOMAS MORE, a history written, as near as scholars can tell, in the early 1600s by 6 or 7 people including Dekker, Heywood, Chettle, Shakespeare, and Munday.

It was never performed, because Jacobean England was a police state and it was banned by the censor.

• Feeds a few databases that store info for 15+ years
ICE and CBP’s Face-Recognition App Can’t Actually Verify Who People Are
ICE has used Mobile Fortify to identify immigrants and citizens alike over 100,000 times, by one estimate. It wasn't built to work like that—and only got approved after DHS abandoned its own privacy r...

1) Need a judicial warrant to enter private property
2) Require verification that someone is not a US citizen before sending them to immigration detention
3) No masks

5) Keep enforcement away from

This is just a guess, but maybe the rise in dramatic prose from district court judges is partly due to a growing belief among those judges that it's pointless to try to persuade SCOTUS and they must therefore focus on other potential audiences.

The only acceptable answer is zero. Zero cities pillaged + zero civilians eaten
Congress has a real chance right now to influence and change the trajectory of immigration enforcement in the US and arrest the use of ICE and CBP as a fascist secret presidential interior police.

1) 3.5% in the streets
2) Peel off 8 Reps or 4 Sens
3) Rescue Trump catastrophe
4) Win in the courts
5) Win in November

If you've foresworn 2-5, fine. Then put everything into 1.
