NB: When I, a professor of law, profess that an act is unlawful, I am not doing it to inform the lawbreaker, but rather to inform you, the reader.

So the question “what, like you think he cares?” is inapposite. The question is whether *you* care. I think you should, which is why I bother.

No. It’s a great time to be a violent criminal in America. Our most sophisticated law enforcement agencies are busy hunting landscapers & housekeepers.
Is there any precedent in modern history for a mass shooting occurring in a public setting with 10+ casualties and the perpetrator not being apprehended? It's really hard to fathom.

Trump orders a blockade of oil tankers into and out of Venezuela. He really is going to start a war. I don't think that will have the effect on his popularity he thinks it will. www.bbc.com/news/article...
Venezuela denounces Trump's order for ship blockade as 'warmongering threats'
It comes a week after the US seized an oil tanker off the country's coast, intensifying pressure on Nicolás Maduro.

there is really no difference between the current administration and having the country run by david duke
On that last post: I genuinely cannot think of any good-faith reason to bar international adoptions from those 39 countries. Under this new ban, consulates will refuse adoption visas for any baby from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nigeria, or any of the 39 other countries.

Hopefully in ten years you'll scarcely be able to find anyone who was ever a Trump-supporter in the same way that everyone in France after the war had been a maquisard during it.
This is the fifth GOP congressperson I’ve seen criticizing Trump’s post on Rob Reiner, and the first who isn’t either leaving the House (MTG, Bacon), a frequent critic (Massie), or in a swing district (Lawler).

I think this is correct. Yes, he's always said horrible things, but usually you can glean some kind of reptilian political calculus.

This gains him nothing, and is an repugnant attack on a murdered man whose movies were beloved by the entire political spectrum.

So we're literally just selling visas for $1 million a pop to Trump's cronies now. No country in history has ever speed run advanced developed economy with a strong democratic, rule of law tradition to lawless kleptocratic oligarchy in anything remotely like this timeframe.
trumpcard.gov is live and the million dollar fees are all referred to as “gifts” or “contributions” to an undisclosed party lol

This is a kind of societal self harm on par with the Cultural Revolution.

The thing you need to understand about the Right is that they are absolutely fine just plain burning down higher education if taking it over ideologically doesn’t work. They’re perfectly happy reducing it to ashes.

The leaders of the civil rights movement had to go to great lengths and very strategically set up situations where the system's brutality would be on display for all to see. This bunch is nice enough to do stuff like this all over the country all on their own, thereby partly doing our work for us.
So probable cause is now just...going to an East African restaurant
Armed ICE agents trapped US citizens in a restaurant and demanded their papers. Federal agents walked into East African restaurants in Cedar-Riverside, MN. They closed and blocked the doors. Then they demanded to see everyone’s papers. Every person present was a US citizen.

The real divide in America isn’t whether or not you believe this. Literally no one believes this.

The real divide is between the people who think lying should matter—and the people who’ll make an exception for our Great Leader.
