First problem: there is absolutely no certainty that ”a conflict now” would stay within these limits.
Second problem: even if it did, virtually no European country has sufficient IAMD, let alone counter drone capability.
Third problem: Trump. Europe isn’t ready yet, but will be.

Basically, a conflict now would mean airplanes being hit and drone/missile strikes. Not good, but much preferable to a fait accompli land grab attempt, and it would likely unite Europe quite effectively _before_ they can dream up an operation that could really shatter NATO.
