I'm curious:

When someone asks you, "why does accessibility matter?" or "why is accessibility so important?", what do you usually answer?

P.S. I might quote your response in a post or discussion.

An incredibly thorough and important post by @sarasoueidan.com on the current state of CSS carousel (in)accessibility. 👏

tl;dr –don’t use them (yet?)

Been annoyed by web fonts for a while. They’re big and they were connecting my blog to Google.

I stumbled on modernfontstacks.com earlier today and now I’ve ditched my web fonts in favour of these.

~140kb shaved off the first load of my site. First impressions matter.
Modern Font Stacks
System font stack CSS organized by typeface classification for every modern OS. The fastest fonts available. No downloading, no layout shifts, no flashes — just instant renders.

🔥 Remember Internet Explorer’s Page Transitions? THEY’RE BACK BABY!

👾 Demo: ie-page-transitions.netlify.app
⌨ Repo: github.com/bramus/ie-pa...

To configure these, use the meta tags from the olden days + load up the library.

Works in IE 5.5–7.0, Chrome 126+, and Safari 18.2 (buggy).

That's the age I started as a web designer. In fact, I only got my first personal computer the year before. It's the age my first child was born. It's the age my life changed so much for the better and I'm sure yours will too. Always remember you can't teach experience.

This is why I think 4 day work weeks would be such a dramatic improvement.

Friday to detangle. Saturday to relax. Sunday to re-engage.

We work hard all week, there's really no guarantee that once weekend comes, your brain can disengage or that it's given back to you in the same state when the week started.

If you have a really tough week, it takes time to untangle.
