Genuinely got more writing prep done in 20 minutes of pinging ideas back and forth at lunchtime with @azathotenergy.bsky.social than I have in some 2-hour focused seminars.

The problems emerge when it becomes a trend to say "neurospicy" (or "AuDHD") as a euphemistic way to avoid saying words like "autistic" or "disabled."

Many people who self-describe as neurospicy and/or AuDHD also use the terms autistic and/or disabled. But many others, very noticeably, do not.

Congrats @annastenning.bsky.social, @louisecreechan.bsky.social and @bergenmar.bsky.social!! This book is the future of neurodiversity & literary studies. Beyond 'representation', it thinks in new expansive ways about nd minds, storyings & practices. It was the biggest honour to contribute to it.

HUGE DAY

My editor copies of 'Critical Neurodiversity Studies: Divergent Textualities in Literature and Culture' arrived!! I'm so excited for this to be out in the world (officially 7th Aug)

The volume asks 'what would a neurodivergent framework for literary studies look like'?

I have read this and it is a landmark book. Essential reading for anyone interested in the intersections between neurodiversity, literature, and literary studies - but also a really engaging, thought-provoking read!

The structure of this is a condensation of everything Starmer's Labour Party is about. Rather than punish the businesses exploiting some of the most marginalised people in our society, he asks those businesses to join him in persecuting those people. Pathetic.
