In Printz v. United States, #SCOTUS held that the Constitution bars the federal government from forcing or otherwise compelling local or state governments to enforce federal law.

The liberal squish who wrote the majority opinion in that case? Justice Antonin Scalia:

Federal law enforcement agents shot and killed a man in Minneapolis on Jan. 24 according to local police officials. DHS told Fox News that the man was “armed with a gun”. A video of the shooting appears to show that a gun was taken from the man before the first shot was fired. x.com/BillMelugin_...

The Republican position now appears to be that you have a constitutional right to openly carry a gun in public, unless you do so while expressing a view that the government dislikes, in which case the secret police can shoot you to death on the spot.
Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara says that the victim was a 37-year-old white man and US citizen with no criminal record and that he was a legally permitted gun owner.

Once again, immigration is not even a problem. Immigrants are not more criminal, they don't cost jobs, they don't harm the economy. There is no reason for any of this. It is hurting ourselves to hurt them.

Pissed the new upstarts might mess up the "kill people with impunity" powers the old guard enjoyed for decades
Do you know how hard it is to get cops to seemingly side with people shot by a bunch of officers
Minneapolis Police Chief O'Hara: "The video speaks for itself. We have identified this person - 37-year-old, white male, resident of the city. The only interaction that we are aware of with law enforcement has been for traffic tickets and we believe he is a lawfully gun owner with a permit to carry"

In a previous case, DHS indicated that someone who they shot five times was "armed with a semi-automatic weapon" but the person shot never brandished the weapon they legally owned. Some videos suggest the victim in MN was disarmed before being shot. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/whos-threa...

Now one of the most important questions has got to be who’s in possession of the victim’s phone
A new video appears to show the moments leading up to a fatal shooting by federal agents in Minneapolis, with the individual appearing to simply record on his phone as agents escalated the situation.

The detention of witnesses and seizure of their phones is an extraordinary violation of every fucking Amendment you can name:

Why are witnesses in federal detention?
The StarTribune live blog is paywall free:
- The man shot by federal agents this morning has died
- Several witnesses have already been transported to the Whipple building.
- ICE attempted to order local police from the scene, but O’Hara refused, sources said.

The central question of the last decade+ in America is if the police can kill you if they feel afraid, and it was my understanding that you sign up for the job knowing there’s going to be danger and you’re paid to be better than “I shot him because I was scared”

The US had three military bases on Greenland under a 1951 treaty, but the BRAC process has reduced it down to one base at present.

If this is meaningfully different from the status quo, it's not obvious to me how. We've had an agreement granting us jurisdiction over US military bases there for 75 years. We could easily have arranged to build another one without this psychotic brinksmanship.

The competent fascists are worse

I want this to be true, but many outside government don’t realize how quickly hiring has sped up. It went from about 90 days to work through cert lists to 15. Which leading to more unqualified people being onboarded.
There are only so many hours in the day, and only so many sycophants willing to work for government salaries

Every hour DOJ wastes going through hiring, onboarding, federal court admission, learning how to not fuck up, etc is an hour they can't spent doing repugnant shit
