Common sense isn't.

You’d think when a senior colleague of Farage’s had been caught taking Russian bribes, Reform would have tightened their vetting procedures. No, they’ve just watered them down in the name of ‘common sense’.

National security, anyone? Not today, thank you.

Great piece by Martin.

Streeting us a dangerous fool.
Wes Streeting has claimed the NHS is on it’s last thread but why is he pulling it

But punching down on the most productive part of the NHS with 1.4m appts a day & 20% more delivered than 2019

Refusing to listen to GPs that have delivered, instead calling them laggards & behind the times

“A long-awaited step toward better management of our shared seas.” The WTO has struck its first ever environmental agreement, targeting subsidies that fuel overfishing and deplete marine life.

Trump is such a coward. He wants to win a war. He tried to "win" in Ukraine but rolled over for Putin. Now he thinks he can get his "win" against the awesome might of Venezuela. Pathetic.
The thing about unchecked power is it often makes grave mistakes. One of the reason Putin decided on the folly of war with Ukraine was the lack of those willing to tell him he was making a grave error. I fear @realDonaldTrump will stumble into a war, costing troop’s their lives.

This way totalitarianism..

Those of us old enough remember that "getting rid of red tape" was a prime reason for joining the EEC.
Brexit has hammered our economy, cost us £100 billion in lost growth, and stripped £40 billion from our tax base.

The worst-hit? Businesses drowning in red tape.

It’s time to face facts and fix the damage.

Wonderful to have men like Hannon, with the foresight to show us the way....
Nine years ago the godfather of Brexit, Lord Daniel Hannan, predicted life in Brexit Britain in June 2025. Roll the tape…

Through media influence and bribery (sorry - donations), wealth has subverted democracy. Imo we have limited time to row this back. False economic mantras have become embedded.
7. Another way of putting this is as follows: Plutocracy has smashed democracy. The oligarchs and corporations who run the Conservative Party and bully Labour into submission have got what they want. Their lies are now almost wall-to-wall.

Around 1970, a wise man commented, that mankind had found an amazing resource of wonderful chemicals under the ground and found ways of extracting it.
He went on to say "And what do we do with this? We burn it."
The UK Government: "We are on an island completely surrounded by the perpetual kinetic energy of the sea, and have the technology to convert movement to electricity. You know what we should do with that sea? Give new licences to drill for oil in it!"

The main purpose of democracy is to save the state and it's population from the abuse of power. When the state itself abuses it's power so openly, it is time to protest and engage in systemic change.
Why is the UK still locked into an obsolete political system?

It is time to move on and leave FPTP behind. Voters are disillusioned with the UK political system and open to change

Why did we allow spoilt brats into politics?
Think about this…

The UK PM refused to meet the PM of Greece on his visit to London.

Instead Keir Starmer did have that meeting to discuss topics like security & immigration.

Sunak said at PMQs that Starmer is siding with an EU country over Britain by meeting the Greek prime minister.

Westminster hiding things? I'd never have expected that....
I'm petty sure that Eurostat have invited the UK to offer them statistics, but the UK haven't responded. @stevepeers.bsky.social can probably trawl up the paragraph about this.

A misty day begins
With birdsong and sin
The radio plays familiar songs
Though all the words are wrong
Sooth me with your smile
Rest still here a while
Imagine the living earth

Isn't it ironic that, while migrants are being vilified by politicians, rich foreigners are being encouraged to buy up more and more British assets? Which do you think is doing more harm to citizens?
