Five tablet mock-ups of the augment saga books in a group (with SFINCS finalist badge attached to The Re-Emergence) with the series title above, and five stars plus a review quote below which reads: "I rarely find as successful a blend of science, intrigue, and mystery as I have with this series." The God Sun book cover tablet mockup in the middle on a background with a red dwarf star with a review quote underneath which reads: “[The God Sun] had that creeping discomfort I’ve come to expect from space sci-fi stories that lean towards the dark side. I was hooked!”

Imagine having a time machine and telling your distant Miocene ancestors, huddled in trees watching for tigers, that one day in the future the most ferocious predator our lineage will have to face is like 10,000 times smaller than us 😂

To be fair, she doesn't usually enjoy comedy
alankdell.bsky.social
She was not impressed 😂

"A Sunday afternoon movie that you used to watch when nothing else was on" is what she called it.

The best part of it for her was looking up all the actors on her phone and figuring out what else she'd seen them in.

Discovered last night that The Princess Bride is free to watch (legitimately) through YouTube's movies thing (used to be Google Play Movies).

My wife had never seen it.

So naturally the only thing I could do with this information was watch it with her immediately! God I love that film.

I can recall the dates on which each of my books was published when asked. I can remember them on any other day at any other time.

Remembering to celebrate them on the day though? Impossible.

Oktobersketch week 2 - a matter of honour amongst the 12th Dragoons.
A duel scene: an otter and chameleon face off against each other, seconded by a badger and a puffin, all in 18th century uniform. A mantis reverend, trilobite doctor and a uniformed pangolin watch on.

Decades after nuclear war, magic returns.

Whilst some use it for art or subterfuge, others will stop at nothing to have that power for themselves.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "The pacing was spot-on, and the last chapters—Wow!"

"a fun, action-packed adventure that mixes science and magic"

@garethlpowell.bsky.social's Who Will You Save? is great collection of stories, and each one had me eager for the next. Some of my faves are "Entropic Angel", "Six Lights Off Green Scar", "Apprehension Sands", and "What Would Nicolas Cage Do?" Highly recommend and extra excited now for Jitterbug.
The cover of Gareth L. Powell's anthology, "Who Will You Save?" An astronaut standing on a hill with a green moon rising behind them reaches out to an upside down mirrored astronaut with a blue moon behind them. Between their two opposing words is a starry red sky. The author's name is in white at the top with the title at the bottom.

Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I'll understand, I don't and I won't. If you're just trying to troll me, I've seen way worse, i'll restrict and move on. But please, if you've got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it's NOT what he'd want.
To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that's enough,
, just so
other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening. You're not making art, you're making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else's throat hoping they'll give you a little thumbs up and like it.
Gross. And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it 'the future. Al is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume.
