As the backlash to generative AI in video games continues to pick up steam heading into 2026, it'll be fascinating to see what is considered "made with generative AI." Can a dev team say they're not using AI if they're writing design docs with Copilot or using chatGPT to make schedules and budgets?

Yes. And translators, badly paid, have been trying to make people aware of this, but they have only a small platform. Need writers and readers to be aware and speak out.

Sucks that Expedition 33 used genAI, but man, that it's cropping up AGAIN right after an award show definitely comes across as a bit retaliatory.
The downside is that some techbro will surely go 'see, AI is fine it's winning awards!' and some pencil pusher will scarf the bait hook, line and sinker.

every time I see an influencer pull out the excuse of "ermm I'm not responsible for my audience's actions because they're adults who make their own decisions ☝️😏" it's always someone with a fanbase exclusively consisting of impressionable teenagers
Hot take, but I think if you have an audience, you are responsible for that audience because they're a reflection of you.
If folks are in your spaces harassing other people, especially on your behalf, and you choose to do nothing about it, you're letting everyone know that's acceptable to you.
