A massive problem today is the uneven distribution of shame. Some of us are running dedicated on-site shame servers 24/7 while others have no access to shame at all, even though they desperately need it. What we need to do is put shame in the cloud

its the most English nickname ever- he was called Ringo Starr because...wait for it.... he wore lots of rings and wanted ro be a star

No, things have never been OK on that island
We just accept it because it’s always been this way but ‘Ringo Starr’ is a bonkers thing to call yourself when the other guys are John, Paul, and George. It’s like having a band where everyone else uses their real name and then the drummer goes yes please call me Crackers Creamsworth

George W Bush’s administration found lawyers to justify torturing prisoners

Now Trump found lawyers to justify murdering fisherman they say are smuggling drugs

This is why Mark Kelly and his colleagues made the video telling troops to follow only legal orders

And why Trump threatened to kill them

I love this story, will never fail to share. It has everything: pathos, humor, suspense.
Ok palate cleanse time. In case you missed it, here's my most popular post ever
4 yrs ago today, a family member managed a truly spectacular own goal, splintered his domestic bliss, & in the process, united the world for a day.

On popular request, I shall now recreate the livetweet thread from that day

So gather around children, for this is the tale of The Rice Truck Saga

Next time a Republican claims this is a “Democrat Shutdown,” they should be reminded that Russell Vought, the president’s top budget adviser, encouraged the GOP in Congress to shut down the government because it’s easier to dismantle the government when it is closed. He's on record liking shutdowns.

Try as they might, they can never erase what they’ve done.

The lives lost. Needlessly.

Making sure our health agencies are gagged, taking away infrastructure and suicide hotlines, medical care…

They’re wantonly and willingly murdering their own countrymen.

They can never escape that.
There will be trials! This time we are not going to let them say we need to move on and let bygones be bygones. Unforgivable!

It’s been really disheartening to see the things people say about those who use SNAP. Many seem to have little understanding of why the program exists in the first place.

Inarguable fact
Once again, the main day of Tea Party protests had about 300,000 nationwide, but saw endless coverage.

The No Kings protests had about 7,000,000 nationwide, and many media outlets reacted with a yawn.

No Kings was nearly 25x as big as the Tea Party but the Tea Party got 25x the attention.
Ask yourself this: How would the New York Times have covered the protests if it had been seven million MAGA supporters flooding the streets? We don’t even have to guess: We know how they and other mainstream outlets covered the Tea Party protests during Obama’s first term.

It is among the worst Supreme Court decisions in history.

It corrupts our political system every day.

I lived with my dad when I was very young and he didn’t apply for food stamps or free school lunches, though we qualified.

So, I went hungry. It was awful. I begged neighbors for saltine crackers. I can say it was the worst time of my life.

Children shouldn’t go hungry. Restore SNAP benefits.

I mean this is viscerally upsetting because it's really genuinely him treating the white house like it's his own personal property; he's the king and it's his palace. No other president ever thought like this, even if they were a fucking horrible person, because it goes against our founding creed
I'm not a West Wing obsessed lib or anything but the more I see pictures of this the more fucked up I think it is. It's like he cut off one of the hands of the Lincoln memorial with an angle grinder so he could add a big gun to it.
The Treasury Department instructed employees not to share to share photos of the demolition of parts of the White House’s East Wing

Badenoch wants to eliminate ‘rip off degrees’ like English. The usual philistine crap that a degree is just about work. The mission to create the stupidest nation on earth. And counterproductive. Young people will work for years. They’ll retrain endlessly. A degree can help them learn how to learn

America imprisons 5X more per capita than even the world’s most authoritarian regimes — including China.

But for the authoritarian right, that’s not enough.

Their vision of society is built on maximizing human suffering.

They are the tyrants our forefathers fought against.
