HAPPENING NOW: Portland Police Commander Franz Schoening testifies that federal officers on Oct. 18 barraged protesters with crowd control munitions — not because of any violence but because another federal officer accidentally shot tear gas onto the roof of the ICE facility.

Yesterday's Supreme Court decision endangers our communities and subjects people to immigration stops simply because of the color of their skin, occupation, or the language they speak.

This fight isn't over. Our right to live free from racial profiling is fundamental.

What kind of evil country does this to people?

The cruelty, they do it for fun. They do it for sport. They do it because their supporters cheer for it.

This is also an object lesson in why these token shows of force don't work.

Armed forces only deter protest when they're willing to use deadly force. But Trump's goons won't (yet) cross that line — so they are an ineffective repressive tool.
