unspeakably pumped for this. HENCH is the smartest, pulpiest, slickest post-superhero satire you'll ever read

Getting to show you all this cover and announce that VILLAIN is officially coming out in May of next year is such a joy and a relief i don't even know how to express it.

the cover for a book entitled Villain by Natalie Zina Walschots. the cover is a bright magenta with dark blue and teal lettering for the title, and the author's name is in yellow. there is an image of the silhouette of a woman carrying a cane, surrounded by the silhouettes of five superheroes.

reminder that you can be the gentlest, kindest person--you can dedicate your life to protecting the planet!--and still keep a little list of people you fucking hate. it's okay to be angry! anger is a symptom of giving a shit!

Earlier this year, Dr. Jane Goodall sat down for an interview for Brad Falchuk’s new Netflix series, Famous Last Words.

The premise of the series is to interview people on the condition that the interview not air until the subject has passed away.

reminder that public comment signup for Thurday’s ACPS Board meeting opens at 8:30am tomorrow through a form on the Board’s website, if you would like to speak in support of Allison Spillman as she handles the disingenuous right wing campaign against her
tjsleakyroof.bsky.social
yeah the repeatedly failed state legislature candidate who moved here in 2020, the right wing radio host who faildoxes people under a pseudonym, and the candidate Allison trounced for her spot on the Board are all trying to make this a thing. really think it’s important to nip this in the bud.
tjsleakyroof.bsky.social
want to boost this. guarantee TPUSA is going to try and stack it, but they simply do not have the local numbers to do so *if* we recognize it’s coming and respond in kind. I think it’s critical to set a tone that we will back our local officials against disingenuous right wing bullshit.

The city school board election has 4 candidates for 3 spots. I will be voting for Lisa Torres, Zyahna Bryant, and Dashad Cooper. Emily Dooley's support for SRO's and, in my opinion, poor leadership in guiding the school division's approach to school safety means I will not vote for her.

i had it confused with bull durham until very recently. TWO costner baseball movies, like a year apart??? that's not on me that's on the dad movie industrial complex

surprise! the real challenge was always getting us to recognize the humanity of other humans! we can anthropomorphize the fuck out of wall-e but genocide is "really complicated"
alixeharrow.bsky.social
all those movies about society refusing to recognize the humanity of robots but it turns out if you glue googly eyes to a roomba about half the country is ready to propose

Draw fanart of all the things you love! You never know where it may lead. Sometimes it leads to getting to draw lady knights for your favourite author with elaborate borders where we tried our damnest to squeeze as many Easter eggs in as possible 😌

what if i told you the everlasting (out oct. 28th) has ILLUSTRATIONS and a MAP drawn by the incredible @alicecaoillo.bsky.social ??? what then???
pen and ink art in a neo-victorian style, showing a lady knight on a bier. there's cool stuff in the border, too, like a pistol and a boy reading a book knight kneeling before a queen, who looks like a yassified margaret thatcher man and a woman beneath a really tight tree. there's a cute cottage in the border
alixeharrow.bsky.social
most people don't know this but you're not technically a fantasy writer until your book has a map in it. with the topography drawn in charming miniature. and at least one dragon
fantasy map, on exactly the style described

trying a new thing where i shout HEY!! STAY FOCUSED!!! at myself, like an exasperated little league coach, every 5-7 minutes. going about as well as it does for little league coaches
alixeharrow.bsky.social
the speaker the turning points kids have invited is Victoria Cobb, a woman who thinks conversion therapy should be legal and trans kids shouldn't have rights, btw. email the school board & show up to the meeting to keep that kind of horseshit away from our kids.

if you're in albermarle county, the nastiest people you know are trying to bully the district into allowing anti-trans hate speech on school grounds, under the guise of free speech. it's an alt-right classic, and the only thing that works is outnumbering and out-shouting their shit.
alixeharrow.bsky.social
i talk about that book a lot!! and keep it flapped to that page 😂

ohhhh my goodness (it's.....very explicit, so uhhhh, you know, as you and they see fit!)

at 8pm ET by the way!! I've never done a live virtual thing where it's just me talking to myself, so i anticipate a vibe somewhere between 2010s youtube and one of those zoo cameras they set up in the exhibits
