America has always boasted freedom of the press. This is the stuff of totalitarian regimes.
When we were in China between betw 2006 and 2011, like most Western reporters I thought the worst thing outsiders had to fear was being kicked out of the country. They weren't detaining many (white) foreigners/reporters then.
