I’m old enough to remember when everybody agreed that higher education was a “market” and offering “choice” was how the universities were meant to grow

As if it needs to be said - all this is having a massive negative impact on the quality of learning for the majority of uni students nationwide. It's really bad for the country. We're failing our young people. But anti uni sentiment is so rife it's not taken seriously

It's crucial to understand that what's bad about income inequality is not just that it enables elites to consume more; it enables them to *control production*. They decide how to use *our* labour and *our* resources, and shape *our* future. It is a dictatorship of the rich.

Its worth noting that in Britain, Mamdani would have thrown out of the Labour Party by a small room full LinkIn weirdos and then replaced by a former private healthcare lobbyist who would go on to lose by 5,000 votes to a Reform candidate who was a convinced sex offender.

My favorite protest chant is probably when the mounted police show up and you get to shout "get those animals off those horses" at the cops. That's just solid joke structure

The current CPI is 2.6% so this is a pay cut. In 2021 UCU showed a 20% real terms pay cut since 2009. We must be well over 25% by now.
The Universities and Colleges Employers Association has announced a “full and final pay” offer of 1.4 per cent, warning that it must be “prudent” as institutions’ finances “deteriorate” at unprecedented speed, reports @julietterowsell.bsky.social

Sorry, but this is just a fully radicalised perspective, and anyone espousing it should be going through Prevent not advising it.
Have a think about what this actually means, and what this government appears to believe “subversion” is.

The real problem isnt chatGPT, its that universities (in the UK at least) are not genuinely invested in good academic standards. They just want to get students through the program, and chatGPT actively helps them in that it can be a lifeboat for students who don't attend or engage with the material
