I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

The first week of October was a comedy of errors, but better late than never (and perfectly on brand) this year’s #31DaysofHorror theme is: HORROR COMEDY.

I needed a few laughs to offset the screaming given *gestures* everything, so I curated this year’s list with love, light, and FRIGHT in mind.

I’m sure this isn’t the first time in history malicious actors have fabricated research, etc. but it also feels like the absolute perfect shit storm of worse case scenarios in a way that is very much unique to us in the age of the internet and global interconnectedness for obvious reasons.

One of my least favorite things (and there is a LOT to not like) about this moment is how a certain demographic has decided that if there isn’t any science/data/etc. to back their claim—they’ll just invent some.

This is a doubly hard question when 1) some people don’t have the skills they need to educate themselves and 2) we acknowledge entire platforms worth of propaganda being pushed down folk’s throats from the right we need to now deprogram. There is plenty of blame to go around here, that’s for sure.

Yes, and people’s attention spans have been decimated. This is on top of the fact reading compression skills are at an all time low, likely due to the fact your average American only reads at a 6th grade level.

I don’t know that I think any of the above is an excuse, but it’s sad a reality.

Friendly reminder that the average American reads at a six grade level.

So, while I agree SCOTUS opinions are technically accessible and people should be smart enough to read and comprehend them, we are also dealing with certain realities 🤷🏻‍♀️ and it serves no one to pretend like we aren’t.

I saw this last night & I think it is good and correct and what real leadership in this moment looks like. It’s not what people want to hear, it IS what we need to hear tho.

And I am a blue dot in a very rural part of a southern state so trust me when I say I get being mad as hell at folks, too.

Tried my hand at chicken and rice soup (in an attempt to repurpose some veryyy dry chicken breasts from leftover BBQ plates) and I’ll be damned if it’s not pretty good for my first time! Especially bc it was mostly based on vibes and loosely based on a recipe 😂 my nana musta been guiding me.
