The NZ Govt spent $183bn into the economy in the year ending June 2025 and took back about $170bn in taxes, charges and dividends etc. This left the private sector $13bn better off. If more people understood this basic reality, we could have sensible Govt spending discussions.

I am privileged enough to own my home and I would support a capital gains tax being introduced on it.

Such a tax doesn’t impact my immediate financial reality cause I am just planning to live here, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If for some reason I sold it, why shouldn’t I have to pay tax for getting luck money?

I had a look and I can't see anything that says it won't apply to the retirement village industry, which is pretty much based on confiscating untaxed capital gains from its customers. So that's good.
I too would like to see a broader CGT, but once you have one in place it's much easier to broaden it and a CGT to pay for GP visits in a Medicaid like system is pretty smart shit. I think that Barb Edmonds knows what she's doing! #NZPol

Content warning: contains photos of the extreme violence used on Palestinians committed by the IDF, found when remains released. They will do this to anyone, teachers, doctors, nurses, children, young and old. Hidden by western media and enabled by western governments. A shameful stain on the world
The marks of inhumane abuse on the Palestinian hostages have been a running theme, showing signs of prolonged shackling, blindfolding, hanging, burning, & shooting from close range

Each body is a testament to the inhumanity of the perpetrators

It would've been a huge scandal if the perpetrators...
Gaza authorities publish shocking images of Israeli abuse as dozens of unidentified bodies are buried
The marks of abuse on these bodies are so extreme that they raise the question of whether there is more to this mutilation, and whether some barbaric religious rituals were performed on them.

"He did not believe the coalition Government’s use of urgency and truncated select committee processes was behind the rise in submissions..."

Of course he would say this, but he's wrong, and disingenous. The evidence suggests that an overall poor legislative process IS significantly implicated.

Ok so as far as I can see I am now unable to publish to x at all…. I think it may be because x is trying to help Trump with the peace effort.

But that may be naive and clueless :)

Anyway it’s nice to be back - I gather this is where all the action is here now in nz. Which makes good sense

Ok so I think what was TWITTER is now in its death throes. Elon musk’s absurd use of his platform to support hard right fanatics in Germany may be the last straw.
