American idioms can be confusing for outsiders.

Like how "I could care less" and "I couldn't care less" mean the same thing.

Or how "I'm a small government conservative" means "I think government agents should be able to shoot citizens in the street for no reason with total impunity."

To anybody who is offended by the governor of Minneapolis telling ICE “get the fuck out of our city,” but not offended by ICE ethnic cleansing secret police summarily executing a local mom, a message: Go fuck yourself.

Sometimes my brain does wacky things with headlines. I first read this as ”drones trailing blood to be carried in Wales”
What?

My whole life, advocating war has been fed to me as “the adult position,” akin to drinking your coffee black or reading the business section of the newspaper. Let’s be very clear — war is the childish nonsense of impulsive destructive idiots playing baby-brained video games with real human lives.

Stephen Miller’s unhinged rage goes straight back to the utter impossibility of his goal: making America white.

It can’t be done. So he lashes out with sadistic attacks on Los Angeles and, of course, innocent immigrants.

Stephen Miller can't make America white. LA is paying for his impotent rage.
Mass deportations were never going to work, so Trump and Miller resort to authoritarian theater

The Dems need to start realizing that if they want people to support them, they have to do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do, not because it polls well or whatever

The disparity btwn what’s actually happening in Los Angeles and the way it’s being mischaracterized is one of the biggest stress tests of modern media in recent memory. Botted socials, AI, old clips, declining literacy—it’s like seeing a broken emergency response system hit by a storm.

I’m just going to get this out now, since I know it’s coming, and I can just link to it.

DO NOT FETISHIZE NON-VIOLENCE.

It is a PRACTICE and a DISCIPLINE. The people who employed it successfully trained RIGOROUSLY. It’s not just a decision, because it goes against basic human instincts. 1/x

I don't normally read "I made chatGPT do something *as an experiment*" pieces (b/c ethical nightmare/boring).
but I'm glad I read this one.
This is gross technology, and says so much about the sqirmy, nasty, disingenous minds behind it.

This period under Musk/Trump feels like early February in 2020—when a terrible thing was happening with breakneck speed, and the people paying close attention were hair-on-fire about it while the rest of the country carried on as normal.

Everyone who pays alot of attention to politics right now is losing their mind because it’s really difficult to understand how the majority of people are just like “yep living my life, oh a program to hire more women? Idk sounds good to me, I voted Trump to lower inflation hopefully he’s doing that”
Favorability of DEI Programs:

Favorable: 45%
Unfavorable: 36%
Net: +9%

Thinking about the electoral college and I checked: Biden was the first presidential election where my vote was counted. Been living in red states most of my life but even my first election Bush Sr beat Dukakis in New Jersey.
