While it's important to vote, that's the bare minimum one can do to be part of democracy.

We are part of the checks & balances of govt. If we don't tell our MPs what we want, we leave them guessing.

If you disagree with Carney or Bills that are introduced, don't wait to vote, CALL YOUR MP!

Pains me to say this, PP is right on this one.

Also, this is what the official opposition is supposed to be doing. Calling out the parts of Bills being debated that are bad for Canadians.

Then we can tell our MPs we don't like it.

THAT'S how it's supposed to work.

THAT'S what was broken.

Telling people birthright citizenship is a custom, rather than law, is misleading to further a particular political agenda, IMO.

Propaganda

1. information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.

Oxford Dictionary
I have sympathy for media outlets discussing complicated legal issues, but it is outright false for @nytimes.com to describe birthright citizenship as a "custom."

It is the law. It is the text of the Constitution. Are the Bill of Rights a "custom" too? What about the Presidency itself?
