Seconding this. Geocities was so popular that they couldn't keep up with demand at first.

LiveJournal had to close off applications for a year because folks overwhelmed them

Something Awful had to start charging for forum access to deal with the load.

And so on.
I was present for the birth of the web, the explosion of personal sites, and the blogging revolution, and you know what we never had to do? Beg people to use our shit.

The team that formed Treasure left Konami cause they felt stifled by the reliance on developing licensed IP games but after creating a whole new company they immediately made a Ronald McDonald game for cash. We are allowed to say this is funny cause the game whipped ass and it worked out in the end.

Chiitan loves all transgender people.
I've received a lot of criticism for expressing my support, but what's more important is that all transgender people live happy lives.
Blue Sky cannot display long posts, so please read this post if you'd like.

Photo of an artist's photo-reference morgue. A really nice one.

Before the Magic Electric Internet, artists & cartoonists had to create their own Google Images, by clipping photos out of magazines and filing them according to topic.

I had a morgue until the mid-1990s. Not as good as this one.
