One of my core assumptions is that people are generally very lazy (outside of 1-3 areas of primary importance to them)
As such we tend to default to trusting the same people/choices as our peers & aspirational peers with no regard for the (lack of) reasoning that drove their choices

As has been observed repeatedly by journalists and social scientists, there’s a huge overlap between who sits on the board of just about anything (from corporation to nonprofit); a narrow set of people get to be on the lion’s share of boards. Similar for who politicians nominate or make top staff.

this makes me reflect on how all the stuff i did back in my 20s specifically so i could win fistfights has left me a physical wreck in my 40s
