What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?
amtappeals.bsky.social
The press would certainly be correct in asking the question.

I don’t want to get rid of it. My point is, blaming the other side for the shutdown, when you have the power to end it, is stupid, and they should be called out on it.
amtappeals.bsky.social
Not totally. I’d be okay with the budget. Because I’m sick of the Dems bailing out the GOP from the worst impacts of their policies. Let the people see what a GOP budget really does and maybe they’ll stop voting for the GOP.
amtappeals.bsky.social
I agree it’s plausible. Although, I think if the Democrats were “hellbent on killing the filibuster” as you claim, they’d have done it when they controlled the Senate under Biden.

I’ve met some great people from #AppellateTwitter / #AppellateSky and even gotten business.

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?
amtappeals.bsky.social
Literally a complaint in the Declaration and the reason we have a 4th Amendment.
amtappeals.bsky.social
They know their budget would crush their voters. They don’t want to take the hit for passing it. So they can either use the Dems as cover with their base about why they didn’t pass a budget, or they can point and say the Dems signed off on it.
amtappeals.bsky.social
Every time a GOP Senator blames the shutdown on Democrats, a reporter should ask why they don’t just eliminate the filibuster for budget bills, like they just did for block confirmations.

Except replace delicious with the truth.

Look here! They have dressed as clowns and they have taunted the ICE lads with donuts on fishing lines. What more do you want? This is social collapse! Just ask Stephen Miller!

Again, if the is is you, call me. I spent 15 years defending an Agency. Now, I’m on your side. And this is why.

President Trump, answering reporters' questions in the Oval Office, says he'll announce in four or five days how many federal workers will be fired amid the government shutdown but "it'll be substantial and a lot of those jobs will never come back."

This is how ICE detains individuals without any warrants, even in the presence of a lawyer making requests.

One should assume, if one had not already, that every single thing the GOP has to say about pretty much anything is a lie or fabrication.

To be absolutely clear: if ICE or DHS says something happened, it almost certainly didn't happen.

And even if it did, at this point, the burden is on them to produce evidence. Anybody who gives them even the least benefit of the doubt hasn't been paying attention.

We need to do what’s morally right because it’s morally right. To achieve the framer’s intent on forming a more perfect union. To keep going forth in this great experiment. Not because it does or doesn’t poll well.

Sidelining marginalized groups/causes for electoral purposes is morally bad, as Ta-Nehisi Coates argued so well recently. @anatosaurus.bsky.social is making an important case---that strategy's electoral benefits are often limited or non-existent. A must-read. www.weekendreading.net/p/bringing-a...

I saw an interesting argument that citizens can and should use this to prove 4A violations. Instead of describing (in)objective reality, say it is setting the legal standard, which ICE has violated.

The Supreme Court WILL NOT hear Ghislaine Maxwell's appeal of her 2022 sex trafficking conviction, which she claimed was partially barred by a provision in Jeffrey Epstein's nonprosecution agreement that promised not to bring criminal charges against his co-conspirators. #SCOTUS

I’ll note that while SCOTUS complains lower courts aren’t following its (unreasoned and opaque) shadow docket orders in cases it sees as substantially similar, the Trump admin loves trying to skirt court orders by tweaking one tiny fact and then doing exactly what it was just forbidden from doing.
