I mean I realize the system wasn’t conceived that way - it’s now like 3 systems in a trench-coat from 50yrs of technological advances piled on. But now that it IS like that, I need someone clever about this to guide me in how to use it. I’ll have to call them back, don’t I? Ask for tutoring? Sigh.
It also seems like a stupid system: I need to artificially make one huge room colder to have heat in the kitchen but also… fiddle with it so it stops burning fossil fuel when I think it’s enough, bc it can’t do it alone anymore bc I lied? What do?!

And I can do that and did, but it’s so stupid as a system - it’s terrible that the central thermostat is in (what happens to be) the warmer place, and also in a HUGE room, but I don’t know how to make it work otherwise. So I’ll now be… colder-ish in the living room? Or ask boiler for more instead?

Basically the great room (about 70m2?) has the gen. thermostat at the living room end so if I want heat in other places I need to demand like, 20° to the boiler but cap the *valves* in the living room UNDER that, or that heats first and the boiler stops bc it thinks all is good, yeah?

I thought a few days ago that the general thermostat being in THE area of the great room where radiators work (3/4 of those who always did) was an issue. Read up on thermostatic valves and you’re not supposed to put one where the general one is, so yeah that was an issue

It’s unseasonably warm out (and beautifully sunny) right now, with a forecast of a fortnight of higher temperatures.
Of course I ended up sans heat at the coldest time and now I have it it’s warm out. Of course.

Okay, update!! There’s still a problem branch of the circuit refusing to heat up at all in the great room BUT by experimenting with the thermostatic valves on each radiator I managed to get the KITCHEN to warm up! I have heat (nearly) everywhere!
Since I leave Friday I’m not calling them back yet.
