Plastics and petrochemicals have become the new frontier of the fossil-fuel economy. Under Trump's deregulation, the big oil industry has taken control of the regulatory bodies meant to protect us, as toxic compounds are now taking over the human body. #OpCanary #EndAutoGenocide 🧵
The Plastic Experiment
A global chemical crisis unfolds as industry turns inward. Plastic pollution becomes self-inflicted, an autogenocide of comfort, profit, and survival.

My reporting later confirmed that Rudy Giuliani met w/ Cathy Latham—a GOP official later indicted in the breach—just one day before he proposed accessing Georgia voting machines during a 2020 White House meeting.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

This move by Democrats today (which I called for 2 weeks ago) really exposed the Republican position. It smoked them out in the open. They refuse to extend the ACA subsidies which will cause insurance premiums to go up for 22 million people. It’s not about anything else.

After voting to give billionaires tax breaks and making health care more expensive, Derrick Van Orden has refused to hold a town hall to talk to the voters he works for in a face-to-face conversation. So, I'm heading to Wisconsin to help give the people he's supposed to represent a voice.
